In its ninth season, farming show Rural Delivery continues to spread the word about innovation, sustainability and best practice in the primary sector. This episode visits a dairy farm taking part in a government-funded experiment measuring greenhouse gases — from up to five hectares away from grazing cows. Viewers also learn about honey production through a tour of Havelock North's Arataki Honey. The episode includes the latest rural news, and an interview with Westland Milk Products Chief Executive Rod Quin, who discusses expanding into the competitive Canterbury dairy market.
The queen lays all the eggs. She's the mother of all the bees in the hive, and they can lay up to at least their own weight of eggs in a day. So they are basically an egg-making factory.– Ian Berry from Arataki Honey
