Well done ETNZ! I'm sure everyone in that video would be proud of their success today!

I read a comment, further down, by a Malcolm Richards; whom stated that the music video mostly featured dead people Ha ha ha - well not all mate - I sang a vocal line on this very track with my fellow band member (i.e. And our Pride is in the Race) second line within the second verse; that is my band 'Satellite Spies' - it was a lot of fun - and we're still alive and kicking - my apologies Malcolm for not being dead................Lol :)

I first got into sailing with this song, lots of tears, esp as so far from home. Am beside myself for tonight's race. Go us!! So proud.

My fav song with new words, very special, so as are the mariners over there striving and hopefully about to win, against the U.S.A. Hoke Mai, everything is Kopi, hold your breaths boys, you will surely win. Tricia Ryder, Paradise Point, half a Kiwi!!

Brings back a lot of good memories from a wonderful cohesive era here in Aotearoa. This ranks very highly amongst many memorable NZ musical icons.

Come Monday, this might be "Top of the Pops" again and the America's Cup will be NZ's Cup. Deja vu, Yeah!

Hey I remember this song I'd forgotten. And Precious Mckenzie, I was in the news paper in a photograph with him in Featherston when I was just a baby. About 2 years old. dressed like a little eskimo, lol. I used to luv this song!
POP FACT: The video was filmed in front of the wharenui at Auckland Museum. The location was chosen as it was an indoor wharenui, which was better suited to the technical demands of a music video shoot.
Prior to this, the big celebrity singalongs had been done for charity - Band Aid and USA for Africa fighting famine; United Artists Against Apartheid vowing to boycott South Africa's Sun City resort. Then along comes the New Zealand version and it's not a charity single; it's essentially propaganda to get the country interested in a professional sport. Far out.

Bloody ludicrous when you think about it now. Trying to get the country behind a rich mans sport that realistically had no appeal to the common sheep shearer or freezer worker.
