My grandmothers brother, Robert Elford, his wife and 10 year old daughter died in this disaster, I was born in 1957 so, of course never met them, it was only mentioned once in the family and I never forgot it. Every now and then, I 'revisit' sites to read more about it, having recently learned about the memorial in the Karori cemetery, in Wellington, I didn't know about this film either, but if I can, will try and see it.

this is one of the finest films I have seen for many years, how it didn't win an Oscar I do not know..... Non fiction too, superb story of the 1950's, sad, funny and nostalgic.....
