In 1978 John Clarke was in Wellington to help out again on Telethon. Like all of the on-screen talent, Clarke is made to work for the money. Some viewers request the carol 'We Three Kings': Clarke's alter ego Fred Dagg delivers the Kiwi version. Later he extinguishes his ciggie and hits the floor with Dougal Stevenson and Roger Gascoigne for some push-ups. It's not a Kiwi Telethon without shirtless antics, and in the last clip Clarke (no longer in Dagg's trademark black singlet) peels off his top to sing 'Waltzing Matilda', while being teased by Stevenson. Money raised that year went towards the Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation.
