Such a brilliant film. Best I've seen in ages and fantastic depiction of a beautiful man, his background and his MH challenges. LOVED it.

Close to the bone, straight to the heart. Kia Ora to all of you for bringing this to the screen. Outstanding performances all round but especially in the lead roles. Frances

Reply to Greville from NZ On Screen: We are informed by reliable sources that there is no court scene in The Dark Horse.

Who played the part of the judge in the court scene?

A tough story and yet I felt happy to see such gutsy work on the screen. Good to see one about men standing up for a better life for a new generation, and the film doesn't shy away from the courage it takes. One generation might miss out, but we can make a difference for the next. The talent of the cast and crew really brought the story home. No-one left the theatre in a hurry after the screening I was at. I hope this film finds the audience it deserves.

Reply to Anne, from NZ On Screen: the song running over the end credits is Solomon Burke's version of Wilson Pickett song 'If You Need Me'.

I loved the movie. I want to know what the song was that played at the end of the movie. Where could I find out please?

My God what a masterpiece of NZ cinema. Napier Robertson and Hern have exposed themselves for the real talent that they are. The cast have excellent history amongst them and have certainly upped the ante on their artistic demands as actors/actresses. As for Wayne Hapi, picked out of the dole queue I'm led to believe ? Your future is assured brother. And the kids that absorbed the audience in all their scenes, God bless you all.
Not usually being a more than once movie viewer, this excellent film has drawn me into a second viewing, and dare I say it maybe a third.

Wow, this movie was a very touching heartfelt story. It definitely left me with an overwhelming feeling but very happy although there were some sad parts to the story. To be amongst all who had a personal connection while watching it made it all the more special.

Please read the book of Queen's Gambit. I loved and read three times as a great chess story. Could make a great sequel to Dark Horse.
