Ginette McDonald introduced theatre audiences to suburban heroine Lynn of Tawa when she was 16. In the late 1970s Lynn made the jump to television. This TV special was produced as a one-off, and later McDonald got her own series. McDonald entertains her live audience with comic monologues interspersed with satirical skits, including panel show Tawa-Talk featuring a rugby-mad vicar and Tawa's local medium (Judith Fyfe). There's rock n' roll, political jokes and a slick dance routine but Lynn truly brings the big time to Tawa with her interview with superstar Elton John, which proves he's no comedy slouch.
