Yes it NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE me how ignorant and non-caring the Americans are about us New Zealanders and all our participation in all the World's conflicts from WW1 to present day. They seem to know and love Australians plenty though - how disappointing! JC - thanks for the info about Vietnam Veterans Day - hope to see you there :)

I was 20/21 year old in Vietnam. It still surprises me that most Americans don't know that New Zealand has been the USA ally and been in every conflict with them since 1900. What I find difficult to understand is why NZ still does not have closer econimic ties with trade etc. Am I missing something? Many thanks for the videos. Saw many of my friends there, sadly again many now not here with us. Lest we forget. Onward ! PS. For Vietnam Vets. 47th Commemoration of the Vietnam War,at the National War memorial, Buckle Srteet,Wellington, New Zealand. Sunday 18 August 2013 at 11.00. I am told that the Vietnam war happened because the Malayan Emergency(War) was controlled by ANZAC and British armed forces. They lived in the jungle for weeks at an end, had the support of the local population and the RNZAF (Bristol Freighter) droping supplies into the jungle. China had to withdraw from Malaya. The Vietnam War was approached by the "Western World" with different tatics. Only staying on the ground during daylight? Is this correct?

Say what you will about the Bristol Freighter, but at least they had the L1A1 with them. Not much can argue with that kind of firepower.

Very interesting to hear about Kiwis in the Vietnam war instead of the American perspective. These need to be kept in consideration when thinking about participating in any wars, now or the future.
