On a farm near Te Awamutu, reporter Dylan Taite encounters a whimsical scene: a troupe of dancing cows. This charming spectacle is an ambitious ad campaign from Anchor, aimed at boosting butter sales. In this behind-the-scenes look, animal trainers guide the bovine talents into movements that can be cleverly edited to look like dancing. Cinematographer Michael Seresin (Sleeping Dogs) is back home from the UK to shoot the meticulously choreographed scene. The advert was originally made for British audiences. The footage was repurposed for a 1991 Dairylea cheese ad aimed at the Kiwi market.
Then I saw her, one of New Zealand's finest jerseys — on her way to a secret dancing lesson at the back of a Te Awamutu farm with stateside animal trainer Sled Reynolds.– Reporter Dylan Taite
