I have to say I'm 45 and we never were told about this great New Zealand man like heaps of others paid the biggest price so I could have been born and live my life. Thank you John Pohe. We should have been told about you in school.
Thank you from Paul Frater and family

Hi Josh - the full doco isn't available in full here at the moment for licensing reasons, but perhaps at a later date. If you're interested in getting a copy of the film on DVD you could try contacting the production company here: http://www.awa.co.nz/our-work/item/turangaarere/

Stuart Hayes, the flight engineer in the movie was my grandfather. Unfortunately he passed away over five years ago, he always told me the story of SGT Pohe and talked about him as if he was god. Since he passed away I have met the family of John Pohe at RAF snaith when we first viewed the film. My grandfather had massive respect for John and since watching the film I can see why.

My father attended Taihape school with John Pohe, although John was two classes ahead of my Dad. My father was proud to have known him and told us his story as young boys growing up in the 50's. So the name of Johnny Pohe has always had a special and respected place in our house.

Thank you for a wonderful piece of NZ history, what a beautiful tane and Whanau, he like so many other's with what appeared to be originally a sense of adventure payed the ultimate price of laying down their lives so we could experience freedom.
Thanks to his brother and the other Whanau members for being willing to give us this insight into their beloved (Johnny) John Pohe. Helen Black

Awesome story, seen the doco here in Australia, Melbourne. John Pohe was/is a remarkable man, showed so much courage, and even became the lucky charm of the pakeha who flew with him....Although he did get caught, and unlucky I guess to have done so, his story is an inspiration to me,

Awesome story, seen the doco here in Australia, Melbourne. Very very moving documentary, well done to the crew and how this story was told.
