Vegas - First Episode

Television – 2021

In the town of Wairoto, three lives collide, plunging the town into a world of crime. In this first episode, newly appointed gang leader Kingi (Eds Eramiha) targets solo mother Toni’s (Cian Elyse White) pub for a final high-stakes drug deal, unaware that a desperate young man is planning to rob the pub the same night in a bid to repay his debts. This six-part drama series, featuring a largely Māori ensemble cast and crew, was filmed entirely in Rotorua. Co-created by Michael Bennett and Harriet Crampton for TVNZ, Vegas is a gritty exploration of power, loyalty, and redemption in a small town on the edge.

I was protective of Toni's trajectory and the way she was portrayed in this world. It matters. Toni is a woman striving to be the best version of herself, while protecting her family and her empire . . . This role is like no other I have played before and the journey was quite challenging for many reasons.
– Cian Elyse White on playing the role of Toni, The NZ Herald, 28 March 2021
