Whānau (2008)

It's seven years on from the first instalment of Whānau, a documentary project following four Māori families into the new millenium. The Hudson, Ngawati, Angus and Ormsby babies have grown into busy seven-year-olds, and lots has changed since 2001. Renei Ngawati is now a single Mum, raising son KaHana and working full-time. Uenukukopako Angus and Koare Hudson have welcomed new siblings, and Pianika Ormsby may not be the youngest of six forever. Each set of parents has had to make decisions about their child's cultural education. Director Kay Ellmers caught up with the families again in 2014.
