Koare Hudson, KaHana Ngawati, Pianika Ormsby and Uenukukopako Angus are in their fourteenth year, and are starting to think aloud about future hopes and dreams. Whānau 2014 is the third instalment of writer/director Kay Ellmer's epic documentary project following the lives of four Māori whānau and their millennium babies. All four teens are settling into post-primary education; for some this means shifting schools till they find the best fit. While their parents think about careers, the teens enjoy their hobbies and downtime.
You have to steer this rangatahi, this generation into careers if you really want your Māori organisation to be run by your own whānau.– Brandi Hudson talks about her ambitions for son, Koare Hudson
