In this episode of where are they now series Then Again, reporter Kevin Milne catches up with a domestically-content John Clarke at home in Greensborough, Melbourne. Clarke talks about moving to his wife's native country and picking up a formidable range of writing and consulting jobs in radio, television and film. There are excerpts from ABC series The Gillies Report, with Clarke playing an anchorman wearing an increasingly ridiculous series of wigs. Milne asks Clarke about working with American performer Bette Midler, and the episode ends with Dagg "kicking it in the guts" with his 'Gumboot Song'.
Quite what generates this flow of lunacy from Clarke's brain to his pen is hard to tell. I suspect that's one of those serious questions he didn't want asked.– Reporter Kevin Milne ponders the source of John Clarke's abundant creativity
